There was an incident late Friday afternoon at Pepper Tree Elementary School in which an after-school employee was injured. No students were involved or harmed.  The situation is secure, the school is safe and the District is fully cooperating with the Upland Police Department. The Police Department will be releasing additional information as it becomes available.

I cannot stress enough that the safety and well-being of our students is our No. 1 priority at Upland Elementary school, and I want to assure you that all steps have been put in place to ensure that. If you have any questions about what we are doing at Upland Elementary School, please feel free to contact me at (909)949-7800 or email me directly at mary_wendland@upland.k12.ca.us

Fondly,

Mrs. Wendland

Local Control Accountability Plan

Information and Input Session

California schools are now funded under a new model known as the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF). Under this new model, districts are required to develop a Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). The LCAP guides priorities for budget development in eight areas. Central to this process is providing opportunities for community input.

                                    Date: Wednesday, February 26, 2014

                                    Time: 6:00 p.m.

Location: Upland Junior High – Multipurpose Room

Please join the Upland Unified School District as we share information about this new funding process and gather your input. We look forward to your participation.

*This meeting has been scheduled for members of PTA, however any member of the community is welcome to attend.

Last week the California Department of Education released the API (Academic Performance Index) for all schools in the state. I am please to announce that Upland Elementary went from a 798 API score to an 810 API score. The 12 point growth is the result of the hard work and dedication of the teachers and staff of Upland Elementary. Without their efforts and the collaboration they have with the students and parents they serve, this growth would not have occurred. I want to say thank you to everyone for making this happen.

The money raised from the sale will support our school by helping PTA/ASB pay for field trips and special events (such as our CST Celebration and Upland Bears Jamboree). There is a special incentive for our sixth grade students. Please ask your child what it is. Thank you to all of the parents, family members, friends, and other supporters of our students and school.

During the summer break, our school went through its third phase of improvements. New items were added to the southern part of the campus. Those class now have the same wonderful technologies to enrich student learning as the rest of the classes already had. Another area that received a big facelift was our cafeteria, or as it is now called "The Hungry Bear Cafe". The reaction of staff and students alike has been amazing. As the year goes on, other changes may occur. Any of the changes that do occur will be done to enhance your child's learning experience.
